I will list the negatives first. The parking pads are very small. Most seemed to be for tents or pop-ups rather than large trailers or RV's. There are two small loops off of the main circle, and I am very doubtful that large rigs would have been able to get turned around. Also, most of the sites are not level, some have steep grades. Be prepared to do a lot of leveling unless you stay on the main circle that is near the bathhouse. It also seemed that the electrical and water hookups were farther away from the parking pad than most campgrounds, but we were lucky to have ample power cord and hose. It seems to be a small park with only two hiking trails, so if you are big hikers, choose somewhere else. Now for the positives. The park was very clean and quiet. Most of the sites were spaced a good distance from each other. The bathrooms were older but clean. The main lodge (which is not within walking distance and is in fact in a completely different section of the park) had a decent restaurant with great staff. The views from the the waterfront portions of the campground are wonderful. Land Between The Lakes is a short distance away with lots of outdoor activities available, so the park is in a good location. The park also has a golf course and marina that offers rental boats.

This park is wonderful. It is one of the best RV parks that I have stayed at. The park is very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were always clean, and the tiled showers had private entries and were spotless. I constantly saw staff cleaning the restroom areas. The pool at the park is great. It only goes to about four feet deep, but it has all kinds of sprinkler systems set up and it is just deep enough for both kids and adults to enjoy. Campers can also use the pools (indoor and outdoor) at the hotel across the street which is also very nice, new, and owned by the same people. The park has both back in and pull through sites, but they were all about the same size. Each site has a concrete pad, very level, full hookups, picnic table, and a fire ring. Sites are pretty close together but about average for the area. It is a new park, so there are no trees of any real size to speak of, but the landscaping (trees, shrub, decorative gravel) breaks it up and keeps it from looking like a parking lot. The Wi-Fi worked great, and we had no trouble connecting. This place may be a little more pricey than some in the area, but well worth the price. If you look online, you can probably find a coupon at some of the tourist sites. The creek that runs at the back of the property is nice, but not overly impressive since it is kind of small and shallow. Lots of nice big rigs at the park, and none of them seemed to have trouble getting in and set up. No junkie campers at all and very well lit at night.Overall, this place was great. No real negatives, just suggestions: add a dogie park. There is no playground for children, but we only have furry ones, so it did not bother us. Have a great stay!

This was our second time staying at the park, and it was as great as the first time! We stayed here in June for a family reunion, and we could not have picked a better place. The small lake located at the park is very clear for it's size, and all of the kids (and adults) in the family had fun swimming. The campground is well kept and very clean. However, I did notice that the bathrooms near the nature center and full hookup areas were much more modern looking than the bathhouse located in the first loop. Still, they were both cleaned daily. The park offers lots of events at the nature center and they had bluegrass music at the lodge one night. The only thing I noticed about the park was that some of the bigger rigs had to "work at it" to get backed in to some of the spots. The sites are all fairly large, but it seemed like some of the angles that people had to back in at may have been a little tricky. It may have just been a skill level thing since we had no trouble getting our travel trailer backed in. Other than that, I can only say book early because the park was full the entire time we were there.

This is a wonderful campground. We camped during the week, so there were no crowds and we had not made an advance reservation. The campground sites have plenty of space between them and almost all sites are very well shaded. The bathrooms were clean and had great water pressure. If you stay at a site on the water, the campsites are much closer together than the non-waterfront sites. If you stay here during warm months, it is a great place to swim and enjoy the lake. Negatives about this campground: Overall this campground was great, so there are no real complaints - just issues to be aware of. The shower houses are located on the center road, but there are a very limited number of trails to get to them. We camped in site #6, and it was a really long walk to reach the shower house. We quickly found that it was easier just to drive. Be aware that some of the sites have fairly steep grades that might make it hard to get some trailers into. Most of the sites are very level, but there are a few I would not have chosen because of the grade. Finally, I did not notice a playground area, but I did not search for one since we do not have kids.

This is a great park. It is small, very clean, and quiet. The sites are all level and easy to back in, and there is lots of shade. The owners were very friendly. There is a small creek trail that our dogs loved, and a tiny "mom & pop" style cafe right across the street that offered a great breakfast. In addition, this place is very close to Helen Georgia and Unicoi State Park. The rates vary depending on the site you reserve. The owners were really helpful since we were only staying for a very short time, they recommended one of their cheaper sites when they could have easily charged us for one of the larger more expensive sites.

We camped here overnight after finding the nearby state park campground full. Whispering Oaks looked okay from the road, it had a swimming pool and lots of shade. However, as we were escorted to our site, we found many "run-down" campers. Behind our site, there were two stationary campers that looked like they have not been road worthy in years. The bathhouse was a very small unpainted cinder block shack that looked so bad from the outside I chose not to even look inside. Late in the evening, my husband took our dogs for their nightly walk, and he passed by a large group of tent campers all sitting by the fire smoking pot.Needless to say, we checked out very early the next morning. The campground was quiet and the grounds appeared clean. We were there on a holiday weekend, so maybe we just had a bad experience, but I would not stay there again. In addition, there is really nothing to do at the campground unless you go to the small pool and there are no restaurants or stores at the campground exit.

We stayed at this park at the end of April. It is a wonderful park. The location could not be better. You get the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere while in the campground, but just outside the park gate is all that Destin has to offer - great seafood, shopping, and entertainment. The sites have plenty of space, fire rings, and clothes lines. The staff cleans each site after a camper departs. They even rake the gravel and scoop out ash from the fire ring. The white sand beach was always uncrowded even though the weather was warm and sunny. The only thing to be aware of is that it is a long stroll down a boardwalk to get to the beach. The boardwalk and beach are ADA accessible, and the walk is really very nice and relaxing. Each morning flags are posted showing water conditions in the area. There are also fresh water spray off areas at the entrance/exit to the boardwalk leading to the beach. For pet lovers, like us, the park has poopie clean up bags located around the campground loops and bathroom areas, so it makes it easy for pet parents to clean up after their furry children. Be aware, dogs are not allowed on the beach, and we were told that dog owners can get a hefty ticket if they ignore the no dogs on the beach rule. My family cannot wait to go back! Make sure you book early, the campground was full to capacity each night we were there.

We camped here in April, and we had a wonderful time. The park is right outside the entrance to the Smokey Mountains and very close to Cades Cove. The campground is well maintained and quiet. ownsend is a quaint little town that does not have the crowds or congestion of Gatlinburg - which is why we picked it. If you want a lot of touristy activities like upscale restaurants, mini golf, and tons of shopping - then Gatlinburg should be your destination. If you want a fun and relaxing get-a-way that focuses on outdoor activities and the park - Townsend and Tremont are perfect! In reference to some earlier reviewers that complained about too many rules at the park - we observed that there are rules, but only to keep the place clean, quiet, and safe for campers. None of the rules were unreasonable or over the top. Great place to stay.

We stayed at the State Park over Thansgiving. It was a wonderful place to stay. Hiling trails, informative and fun classes at the nature center, and very close to Helen. The bathrooms and laundry facilites were clean and well kept considering the large number of campers.

This is a wonderful park! There is so much to do, and the hiking trails and waterfalls are great. The camping sites all have fire rings and plenty of space on each side. We saw a lot of wildlife from our campsite which backed up to the woods. The bathrooms were well maintained and had great water pressure. We stayed here three nights and wish we would have stayed more. Many hiking and biking trails. The trails are also pet freindly. We stayed away from the playground area since that is the busiest and noisiest area in the campsite area. The rest of the camping areas were quiet.

Great park with a small number of trails for hiking. Canoeing nearby that my family and dogs really enjoyed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Awesome golf course at the park. I would not recommend this park for a long stay only because the park is somewhat small with a limited number of hiking trails (since we camp primarily for the hiking). However, it is great for a weekend stay.
